This project involved the renovation of a 12,000-square-foot former vivarium space to accommodate a new sterile environment to serve as the region’s prescription fulfillment center. The finished space includes a new automated pharmaceutical filling system, call center, and employee meeting and break spaces, as well as updates to all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within the space. The project faced unique challenges with unforeseen abatement measures, re-sequencing to allow for early installation and protection of specialized medical equipment, and a complete overhaul of the mechanical system and associated catwalk to provide ample ceiling height throughout the space. The project also delivered a new 35,000-square-foot roof to increase energy efficiency. All work was completed in coordination with employees in the existing space to ensure uninterrupted daily operations. The project required a flexible yet attentive schedule to coordinate the ongoing work so that all systems were complete and in place to begin providing pharmacy services to the area.
