UMass Memorial Health Physical Therapy

This project included the conversion of existing shell space into a 6,000-square-foot physical therapy facility. The facility includes 11 treatment areas to serve patients from the adjacent surgery center and a stand-alone structural steel canopy entrance. The open gym space features specialty impact-resistant flooring and a custom turf area. To accommodate new bathrooms, showers and treatment rooms, the work required significant under slab utility work. In addition, the existing services provided to the shell space from the base building infrastructure were not adequate to meet the requirements of the new space. All services were increased,requiring careful coordination and extreme care to ensure the adjacent surgery center was not impacted. Built adjacent to an active surgical center, the project required precise planning and execution to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
